about this ebook

The 4,000 fighter pilots parable is a true story sourced from the U.S. Airforce of decades past. There’s not much room in this ebook for the story to breathe and ebb and flow, but basically the Airforce redesigned their cockpits after averaging the measurements from 4,000 pilots, and proceeded to wreck the whole thing (at times literally, as pilots could no longer reliably control their crafts). This actually had far-reaching product ramifications! The big takeaway we can apply to SaaS product management is that…

Summary:

From start to finish, this free resource is engaging, entertaining and fun. The story-fied premise, the upbeat language, the large body font — all come together to create something that can best be described as "the product manager's perfect bedtime story". (Because we all know PMs dream of how to juggle prioritize and create a process that will lead to a better user experience for all).

The best part:

The structure. A new twist on the problem-example-solution format, each of the 3 parables is broken down into increasingly escalating sections: A problem statement, a story, a lesson, and a "how this applies to product management". That means the busier among us can skip to the what-do-I-do-with-this-info section and get right back to work (although we don't recommend it—this is fun to read!)
